This is probably the only Space Explorer that I have seen without the usual scrape somewhere along the sliding screen.
Toy works well and is also MINT - just the way I found it some 30 years ago, with both Styrofoam inserts and a card with a list of what not to do.
It begins with the unit all collapse onto itself, like an old TV on the side of the living room. You turn the switch on at the back and the unit begins to whirl for quite some time. Then, very slowly, it telescopes upwards, the legs begin to appear and both arms go up by the sides of the body. The head now begins to show, with blinking lights behind the green eyes, as the screen in its chest reveals an astronaut behind the controls. Like a menacing Frankenstein, it slowly rumbles forward, with broad swaying motion.
I recall seeing this robot in action for the very first time. I had never seen anything like it and no robot has impressed me as much as this one did. PLEASE NOTE that the bulb in one eye is not working at present. It is either burnt out, or a connection is loose. The strange reflections on the control cabin is due to the lights only.
